ATV Accessories
Whether you use your ATV purely for off-roading joyrides or as a transportation and cargo-hauling tool around the construction site, there are plenty of ways to improve upon your ATV experience. Accessories for your ATV assist with helping you haul more gear and also with keeping you safe as you ride. Your local ATV dealer, H&W Marine, has locations in Shreveport, Louisiana and Marshall, Texas. Our staff are here to help all our customers improve how they ride their ATVs. Here are some of the top options for outfitting yourself and your ATV to make riding easier, safer and more productive when you’re working.
Emergency Kits
You should equip your ATV with a few different safety kits just in case an emergency arises. First aid kits are always handy on any vehicle: make sure to pack bandages, ointments, medication for minor illnesses and anything else you think you might need to treat trail scrapes, poison ivy exposure, bug bites or a headache.
A repair kit is a very handy thing to have on your ATV at all times. With regular maintenance, your ATV should be in good condition whenever you ride, but you never know when you’ll have to adjust some wires or patch a flat tire. An air pump or compressor, pliers, tire patches, duct tape, wrenches and screwdrivers can all help you in a bind to get your ATV working again.
Winch
Installing a winch onto your ATV is a quick and easy way to increase its usefulness. You can use a winch to tow another ATV out of a ditch or to pull your freshly shot game out of a hollow spot so you can dress it. You’re bound to get some good use out of this handy tool, so be sure to equip your ATV with one soon.
Protective Gear
Whenever you’re riding your ATV, it’s important that you protect yourself as best you can. This means wearing a helmet, either a motocross helmet with goggles for eye protection or a motorcycle helmet with a full face mask. The latter choice can be hot and heavy so many ATV riders spring for the former. Wear clothes that cover as much of your body as possible as well as gloves and boots for your hands and feet. Protective chest and knee plates are available for particularly hard riding.
Extra Storage Space
Your ATV is fairly small so storage space is often limited. You can usually purchase aftermarket storage options to increase the amount of cargo you can haul, but you should be careful not to exceed the weight limit of your ATV. With more storage, you can pack snacks and water for the road, sunscreen, extra clothes, emergency radios and other things you might need while riding.
GPS
GPS devices are useful for navigating new trails and paths, and they can also help you to find that hidden gem of a trail that might be somewhat secluded. Using a GPS separate from your phone will save your phone’s battery for more important things like communication with others, and the connection can be spotty in certain places.
LED Lights
Adding LED lights to your vehicle will make riding before dawn and after dusk that much easier. Sometimes in a dim forest it’s easy to get lost, too. Many ATVs do have lights, but switching these out for LEDs will mean improved visibility and longevity of your light bulbs, since LEDs take much less energy to run and put out less heat.
